One Killed and Two Injured in Seven-Vehicle Accident on Highway 14 in Camas

CAMAS, WA (September 2, 2024) — One person died in a seven-vehicle accident on Highway 14 on Thursday, August 22.

According to the Washington State Patrol District 5, the crash took place on the Camas Slough Bridge. They said a vehicle, stuck behind an oversized load, tried to make a U-turn and then caused the crash.

The Washington State Department of Transportation said a flatbed truck carried the oversized load they described as a manufactured home. Then it got stuck on the West Camas Slough Bridge late Thursday morning.

The oversized load blocked westbound traffic on Highway 14 between Camas and Washougal. A photo that WSDOT later posted showed that the manufactured home was simply too wide for the bridge. That caused it to be wedged between the outer and central barrier railings.

Officials closed both directions of Highway 14 for most of the afternoon near 6th Street. Then they reopened all closed lanes at around 6:00 p.m.
