One Killed after Semi-Truck Crash on Highway 285 at Milepost 232

 
CONIFER, CO (June 27, 2024) — One person died in a semi-truck accident on Highway 285 on Tuesday, June 11.
 
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the crash took place on Highway 285 at milepost 232, south of Conifer, at about 5:00 p.m.
 
CSP said a semi-truck traveled southbound on Highway 285. Then it traveled off the edge of the highway. After that, it overturned onto its side and dumped its load of pipe and angle iron on five other vehicles.
 
One person inside one of the vehicles struck by the load died at the scene, CSP stated.
 
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said diesel fuel spilled after the accident. Hazmat crews responded to the scene and cleared the spill.
 
According to the Colorado Department of Transportation, they closed the highway in both directions between Parker Avenue and Blackfoot Road for about 14 hours. They reopened it at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday.
