SAN DIEGO, CA (February 15, 2023) – A pedestrian was hit and killed in an accident on Mission Gorge Road early Friday, February 10.

According to the San Diego Police, the crash occurred at 1:08 a.m. near Royal Gorge Drive. Based on reports, the Prius was driving west along Mission Gorge Road when it crashed into a 31-year-old pedestrian.

Authorities also stated in the report that the roadway was extremely dark and not well lit at the time of the crash.

The pedestrian later succumbed to injuries and died after an SDPD attempted life-saving measures.

The 31-year-old driver sustained minor cuts on his hand. He was evaluated and provided with treatment at the scene. He cooperated with the investigation.

At this point, alcohol and drugs do not appear to have played a role in the accident.
