Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash on 5 Freeway at Northeast Northgate Way in Seattle
SEATTLE, WA (September 12, 2022) – Police arrested a man after a fatal multi-vehicle crash on 5 Freeway on September 6.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened at Northeast Northgate Way around 3:25 AM.
Based on a report, several vehicles collided in the lanes. The Washington State Department of Transportation reported closure of all lanes of the southbound side of the freeway due to the pile-up.
As a result of the crash, police reported a fatality. The details regarding the victim were not immediately available.
Police took a 35-year-old Everett man into custody for investigation of vehicular homicide. The suspect has two open cases in Seattle Municipal Court, one for speeding in a school zone and the other for an HOV lane violation. He also has several charges in Snohomish County for DUI and driving with a suspended license.
Officers later released him as police continued their investigation.
At this point, no other details are available. Also, an investigation into the case is ongoing.
