Omar Gallegos Arrested after Fatal Pedestrian DUI Accident in Las Vegas

 
LAS VEGAS, NV (April 9, 2024) — Officials arrested 28-year-old Omar Gallegos after a fatal DUI accident on Sunday, March 31.
 
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, they received a report of the crash at about 8:43 p.m. on South Pecos Road, near East Maule Avenue.
 
LVMPD said the 35-year-old man tried to cross Pecos outside of a marked or implied crosswalk. Then a vehicle fatally struck him.
 
Medical responders arrived at the scene and pronounced the pedestrian dead.
 
Gallegos, who drove the involved vehicle, remained at the scene. Officers said he displayed signs of impairment.
 
Authorities placed him under arrest and booked him into the Clark County Detention Center. He is currently facing DUI-related charges.
 
This accident marks the 46th traffic-related death in Metro’s jurisdiction for 2024.
