KITTITAS COUNTY, WA (January 3, 2024) — 39-year-old Nirmal Singh, of British Columbia, was hurt in an accident on Sunday, December 15.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the accident occurred at about 6:15 p.m. on 82 Freeway about eight miles east of Ellensburg.
 
WSP said 37-year-old Josefina Martinez-Chavez swerved to miss a traffic collision. Then she went off the roadway and hit Singh who was on foot.
 
As a result of the incident, Singh sustained unspecified injuries. Emergency responders arrived and then brought him to Kittitas Valley Healthcare for treatment.
 
WSP troopers said Chavez traveled too fast for road conditions when the accident. They also believe intoxication was not a factor.
