Neiva Zavala Identified in Fatal Crash on 10 Freeway at 51st Avenue in Phoenix

 
PHOENIX, AZ (April 20, 2023) – The Phoenix Police Department identified 21-year-old Neiva Bejarano Zavala as the victim who died after a driver ran a red light and caused a four-car crash on March 16.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, police were called to a multi-car crash near 51st Avenue and the 10 Freeway overpass.
 
Based on a report, a driver traveling east on the 51st Avenue allegedly ran a red light at the intersection and struck Zavala’s car that was driving south. Subsequently, the vehicles crashed into a third and fourth vehicle.
 
As a result, police said Zavala suffered severe injuries and died at the scene.
 
One of the drivers sustained serious injuries. Someone in the car with Zavala also sustained serious injuries, police said.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
