Nayvis Diaz Killed after Colorado Springs Train Accident

 
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (January 28, 2025) — A 26-year-old woman, Nayvis Socarras Diaz, died in a train accident on Monday, January 20.
 
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the accident occurred near Highway 85/87 and Main Street on Monday afternoon.
 
The Colorado State Patrol said the crash occurred when Diaz approached the railroad crossing while driving her SUV aggressively. Despite the crossing arms being down and warning lights activated, she disregarded the signals and drove onto the tracks.
 
After that, her SUV struck two railcars as the train passed. The impact ejected her from the vehicle. Emergency responders pronounced her dead at the scene.
 
Authorities reported that the train continued moving. It is unclear whether the train conductor was aware of the incident. As of writing, there have been no reports of charges in connection with the incident.
 
CSP said the crash remains under investigation.
