LAREDO, TX (January 28, 2025) — Officials arrested 24-year-old David Alexander Hernandez after a pursuit crash on Wednesday, January 22.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the incident happened on East Lyon Street and Sanders Avenue on Wednesday morning.
 
Texas DPS said the chase began along Santa Maria Avenue when troopers attempted to stop a black vehicle. Hernandez, who drove the vehicle, refused to comply and fled.
 
Then the vehicle which reportedly carried five undocumented individuals, crashed into two parked cars in a residential neighborhood.
 
After the collision, witnesses reported seeing people running from the scene. The two injured women, who were in one of the cars Hernandez struck, received medical attention. Their current condition remains undisclosed.
 
Troopers detained Hernandez at the crash site. They also confirmed his involvement in human smuggling, a recurring issue in border towns. As of writing, the five undocumented individuals inside his vehicle remain unaccounted.
