Nasser Chidiac Identified in Fatal Wrong-Way Crash in Mesa
MESA, AZ (December 12, 2024) – Authorities identified 50-year-old Nasser Chidiac of Mesa who died in a crash on Loop 202 on December 7.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened near Power Road at approximately 11:00 PM. Based on a report, Chidiac was driving on the highway before the crash.
At the same time, DPS received a report of a wrong-way driver going westbound down the eastbound lanes of Loop 202.
Subsequently, the report showed the wrong-way driver collided head-on with the victim’s car near the Power Road off-ramp.
As a result, the victim suffered grave injuries and died in the incident. Tempe High School officials confirmed Chidiac was a math teacher at the school.
Paramedics transported a passenger in his car to a hospital with serious injuries.
Officers identified a 23-year-old San Tan Valley man as the wrong-way driver. The suspect suffered life-threatening injuries. DPS said impairment has not been ruled out as a factor in the crash.
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
