Motorcyclist Dead in Multi-Vehicle Crash on 10 Freeway
TEMPE, AZ (February 25, 2025) — A 50-year-old motorcyclist died in a multi-vehicle accident on the 10 Freeway on Saturday, February 22.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred just before 12:30 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of the 10 Freeway near Broadway Road.
The motorcyclist reportedly crashed and came to a stop in the roadway. The rider stood in the lane when a Dodge Ram pickup truck stopped to avoid hitting him.
Moments later, a Dodge Durango SUV struck the truck. The impact pushed it forward and into another vehicle.
During the sequence of events in the collision, one of the vehicles involved ran over the motorcyclist. First responders transported him to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. His identity is not immediately available.
Authorities confirmed that impairment was not a factor in the crash.
Officials closed the eastbound lanes of 10 Freeway for about three hours while investigators examined the scene. The roadway reopened around 4:00 p.m.
The investigation of the multi-vehicle accident remains ongoing.
