Motorcyclist Taken to Hospital After Two-Vehicle Crash on Demaree Street

VISALIA, CA (August 23, 2022) — A motorcyclist was rushed to a hospital following a two-vehicle crash on Demaree Street on Friday morning, August 19.

According to the Visalia Police, the collision occurred at around 7:30 a.m. and involved a motorcycle and black Tesla Model Y.

Authorities said the motorcyclist traveled northbound on Demaree Street when it slammed into a black Tesla Model Y that was turning.

The motorcyclist suffered injuries in the crash, prompting police officers to transport the patient to a hospital for treatment. However, authorities did not disclose the severity of the injuries.

Officers measured braking marks and photographed the debris field which stretched a football field north to Wren Street.

Police officers closed Demaree Street in both directions from Ferguson Avenue to Riggin Avenue.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

To that end, the police are looking into utilizing and collecting information from the Tesla, which commonly has eight cameras and 12 ultrasonic sensors that sense a crash. Investigators would also check the Tesla for Full Self-Driving features and Autopilot system to determine if these played a role in the incident.

No further information is available at this time.
