Motorcycle Rider Hospitalized after Suspected Puyallup DUI Accident on 39th Avenue

 
PUYALLUP, WA (January 13, 2025) — A motorcyclist sustained injuries in a suspected DUI accident on 39th Avenue Southwest on Sunday, January 5.
 
According to the Puyallup Police Department, the accident occurred at about 6:00 p.m. on the 7000 block of 39th Avenue Southwest near Seventh Street Southwest.
 
Puyallup Police said that the motorcyclist, a 28-year-old Pierce County man, traveled east on 39th Avenue Southwest. Then a pickup truck entered the road from Seventh Street Southwest without yielding. After that, it crashed into the motorcycle.
 
The force of the collision sent the motorcycle and its rider across the street. First responders brought the victim to a local hospital with serious injuries.
 
PPD said officers the driver of the pickup, a 72-year-old Pierce County man, for impairment. After that, they arrested him for suspicion of DUI.
 
The Metro Major Collision Response Team arrived and investigated at the scene.
