Michael Hutchinson Fatally Injured in Cave Creek Bicycle Accident

 
CAVE CREEK, AZ (August 26, 2024) — A 37-year-old man identified as Michael Hutchinson died in a bicycle accident on Monday, August 12.
 
According to the Phoenix police, the accident took place on Cave Creek Road near Dynamite Boulevard at about 11:30 p.m.
 
Investigators said an 18-year-old drove a GMC Terrain SUV south on Cave Creek Road in the left lane. Then he briefly looked at his radio.
 
When the teen looked up, he saw Hutchinson on a bicycle. Then he struck him just north of Dynamite Boulevard.
 
The driver remained at the scene and dialed 911.
 
Emergency responders arrived and pronounced Hutchinson dead at the scene.
 
Authorities have not yet determined how fast the teen was and if impairment was a factor.
 
The SUV’s windshield suffered visible damage.
 
According to the Phoenix Police Sgt. Mayra Reeson, they will make final charging decisions after they receive the toxicology report and finish the reconstruction.
 
Officers partially closed Cave Creek Road as they investigated at the scene.
 
The investigation is still underway.
