Head-On Crash on Highway 43 in Hanford, Melody Dias Identified

 
HANFORD, CA (December 21, 2022) – CHP confirmed that Melody Dias died after a car crash on Highway 43 on Monday, December 19.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred just after 5:00 a.m. on Highway 43, north of Fargo Avenue. Based on initial investigation, 45-year-old Dias was driving her Scion when she drifted into the opposite lane.

After that, the Scion crashed into a big rig head-on. Authorities identified the other driver as 72-year-old Armando Banuelos.

Dias succumbed to her injuries and died at the scene.

Banuelos also suffered injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Authorities shut down Highway 43 between Fargo Avenue and 10th Avenue while the investigation continued. It is still not certain if drugs and alcohol played a role in the crash.
