TONOPAH, AZ (March 4, 2025) — Melinda Kobold, Dustin Cluff, and two others died in a multi-vehicle accident on Saturday, March 1.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred around 1:00 p.m. on 10 Freeway near milepost 88.
 
Authorities said an initial collision triggered multiple secondary crashes involving 12 vehicles. The wreck included six commercial vehicles, four passenger cars, a van, and an RV towing a trailer. Several vehicles caught fire, creating a hazardous scene.
 
Officials confirmed that four people died, including a commercial vehicle driver. Meanwhile, two people remain in critical condition, while one other person was hospitalized. Additionally, paramedics treated and released five others at the scene.
 
In a GoFundMe, Joey Kobold identified two of the deceased victims as his sister Melinda Kobold, and her sister’s boyfriend Dustin Cluff.
 
Investigators are examining whether blowing dust reduced visibility and contributed to the crash. Meteorologists reported light dust moving across the highway during the time of the incident. The report said it may have created dangerous driving conditions despite not forming a large dust wall.
