Melina Alvarez Struck and Killed by Vehicle in Sacramento

 
SACRAMENTO, CA (May 26, 2023) – The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified 39-year-old Melina Griset Alvarez who died in a pedestrian accident on Gerber Road on May 19.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened just east of Waterman Road around 10:30 PM. Based on a report, Alvarez was at the intersection prior to the crash.
 
At the same time, a 29-year-old Sacramento man was heading east on Gerber in a white 2019 Prius. As the car went through the Waterman intersection with a green light, Alvarez ran directly in front of the Prius.
 
As a result, the car’s front-end struck and threw her about 20 feet in an easterly direction. Then, her body came to rest in an embankment about 3 feet off the road. She suffered severe injuries and died in the incident.
 
The driver remained at the scene.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
