PHOENIX, AZ (February 4, 2025) — A 19-year-old identified as Mea Ann Ortiz, died in a motorcycle accident on Friday, January 31.
 
According to the Phoenix Police Department, the crash happened just before 6:45 a.m. at the intersection of 35th Avenue and Dunlap Avenue.
 
Investigators said Ortiz rode her motorcycle eastbound on Dunlap Avenue. At that moment, a female driver in a sedan pulled in front of her from 35th Avenue, resulting in a collision.
 
Paramedics arrived and then transported Ortiz to the hospital in critical condition. However, she did not survive her injuries.
 
Meanwhile, the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Officials reported that impairment was not a factor in the crash. They also said Ortiz wore a helmet when the accident.
 
Following the collision, authorities closed the intersection for several hours as the police investigated and cleared the area. They reopened it around 10:45 a.m.
