Martin Salazar Detained after Fatal DUI Accident in San Jose

 
SAN JOSE, CA (February 15, 2023) – Officers arrested 49-year-old Martin Ramirez Salazar of Fremont after a fatal hit-and-run on northbound 680 Freeway on February 12.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened just north of Berryessa Road around 10:50 PM. Based on a report, Salazar was driving a 2023 GMC Sierra at a high rate of speed near the intersection when he collided with a 2003 Ford Focus.
 
Subsequently, Salazar lost control of his truck and it traveled across three lanes before leaving the road and stopping in a field. Then, the Ford lost control and crashed into the concrete center divider.
 
As a result, the 64-year-old male driver of the Ford died in the incident. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner’s Office did not yet release his name, pending notification of next-of-kin.
 
CHP officials said officers saw Salazar flee the scene. They arrested him at his home in Fremont.
