HOUSTON, TX (February 20, 2025) — A 20-year-old man identified as Markeveon Miller died in a speeding accident on Friday, February 7.
 
The Houston Police Department reported that the incident occurred at around 8:35 p.m. on 45 Freeway near 7700 North Freeway.
 
According to the Houston Police, Miller drove a black Pontiac G6 northbound on the 45 Freeway at a high rate of speed. Then he exited at West Gulf Bank Road alongside a blue Mercedes Benz 320 sedan. Officers believe the two vehicles may have been racing.
 
Miller’s vehicle crossed multiple lanes on the service road and struck a curb. After that, it veered into a grassy area where it hit a concrete pipe. Then it overturned several times.
 
Emergency responders transported Miller to a nearby hospital, where medical personnel pronounced him dead.
 
The driver of the Mercedes witnessed the incident and returned to the scene. Authorities questioned him and they determined he was not under the influence before they released him.
 
Authorities have not yet confirmed whether street racing played a role in the incident.
 
The crash remains under investigation.
