Francisco Jauregui Arrested after Sutter DUI Crash, Mother Maria Soto and Son Andres Ambriz Dead
SUTTER, CA (February 24, 2023) – 25-year-old Maria Flores Soto and 2-year-old Andres Ambriz died in a DUI crash on State Route 20 on Monday.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal incident happened around 10:00 p.m. just east of Acacia Avenue.
Based on reports, a 2021 Chevrolet pickup truck was driving along the eastbound lane of State Route 20 when he crossed the double yellow lines. As a result, he struck a 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer head-on.
The Sutter County Sheriff’s Office identified Soto and her son Ambriz as the two who were killed in the crash.
Responders rushed her 15-year-old passenger to the hospital with major injuries. All three occupants of the vehicle were Colusa residents.
43-year-old Francisco Jauregui was also identified as the driver of the pickup. He did not render aid and fled the scene. However officials located him soon after.
Jauregui is now facing charges of several counts, including DUI causing injury or death, gross vehicular manslaughter, attempting to flee the scene of an injury crash and child endangerment.
