Fatal Head-On Crash on Sossaman Road at Baseline Road in Mesa

 
MESA, AZ (July 26, 2023) – Officials confirmed that a 47-year-old man died in a car crash on Sossaman Road on July 14.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Baseline Road around 4:00 PM. Based on a report, the victim was driving the Toyota Prius north on Sossaman Road prior to the crash.
 
At the same time, a Ford truck was speeding south on the road, attempting to pass a vehicle by passing left into the two-way left turn lane. When the Prius moved to the left turn lane to head west on Superstition Springs Boulevard, it crashed head-on with the Ford.
 
As a result, the victim sustained grave injuries and died in the incident. Officials did not yet release the victim’s name, pending kin notification.
 
The driver of the Ford sustained critical injuries. A 5-year-old and a 2-year-old were hospitalized for treatment of injuries.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
