Fatal Car Accident on College Drive in Vernon
VERNON, TX (October 1, 2024) – The Vernon Police Department confirmed that a 90-year-old man died in a two-vehicle accident on College Drive on September 12.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened in front of the campus of Vernon Junior College around 3:00 PM. Based on a report, one of the vehicles T-boned the other, causing it to roll and rest on its side. Police said no one was ejected during the crash.
As a result, the man suffered grave injuries and died in the incident. Authorities did not release his name, pending notification of next of kin.
Police said emergency crews transported another person to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police and the Wilbarger County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene, and the Texas Department of Public Safety sent a crash reconstruction team with a drone to assist them.
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
