Fatal San Jose Pedestrian Crash on Highway 101

SAN JOSE, CA (December 21, 2022) — A man died following a pedestrian crash on Highway 101 early Friday morning, December 16.

The fatal collision happened north of McKee Road at around 5:15 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

Authorities said the man attempted to walk across the highway from the right-hand shoulder when he came in the path of a Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 46-year-old Union City man.

Despite attempting an evasive maneuver, the driver of the Silverado could not avoid hitting the male pedestrian. After that, the victim was struck by a second unspecified vehicle.

The man died at the scene.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Chevrolet remained at the scene while the second involved driver fled the collision site.

The factors surrounding the crash remain under investigation.

To that end, officials are encouraging anyone with information to contact the CHP’s San Jose-area office at (408) 961-0900.
