73-Year-Old Man Struck and Killed by Vehicle on Highway 65 in Bakersfield

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (April 18, 2023) – Officers confirmed that a 73-year-old man died in a pedestrian accident on Highway 65 on April 8.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened just south of Imperial Avenue.
 
Based on a report, 58-year-old Darryl Huber was driving a Peterbilt south on the highway at the time of the crash. Due to unknown reasons, he hit the pedestrian who was walking in southbound lanes directly into the truck’s path.
 
As a result, the victim suffered grave injuries and died at the scene. CHP did not yet release his identity, pending kin notification.
 
Huber remained at the scene until emergency responders arrived. Intoxication by drugs or alcohol didn’t appear to a factor.
 
As of now, the crash is under investigation. In addition, officers ask anyone with more information to call CHP at 661-396-6600.
