Fatal Phoenix Hit-and-Run near Central Avenue and Van Buren Street

 
PHOENIX, AZ (August 6, 2024) — A man suffered fatal injuries in a pedestrian accident near Central Avenue on Monday, July 22.
 
According to the Phoenix police, the incident occurred near Central Avenue and Van Buren Street at about 11:45 p.m.
 
Phoenix police said the man tried to get the bus to stop while the driver turned right onto Central Avenue.
 
The man banged on the door and began walking next to the bus. Police said the bus driver did not stop because the area was not designated as a bus stop.
 
After that, the pedestrian lost his footing and then fell into the roadway. Then the after bus subsequently hit him, Phoenix police said.
 
Emergency responders transported the man to a hospital where he later died. His identity is not immediately available.
