Electric Scooter Struck by Pickup Truck in Fatal El Cajon Accident

 
EL CAJON, CA (January 12, 2022) – Police confirmed that a 57-year-old man died in an electric scooter accident in the 500 block of El Cajon Boulevard on January 7.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened shortly after 10:30 AM. Based on a report, the victim was riding his scooter at the time of the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, he made an unsafe turn into the path of a 2000 Dodge Ram, causing the pickup truck to hit him. The man was trapped under the truck.
 
As a result, the man died at Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego. Officers did not yet release his name, pending kin notification.
 
Preliminary evidence suggested that a right-of-way violation was the cause of the fatal crash.
