Fatal Pedestrian Accident on North Tschirley Road in Spokane Valley

 
SPOKANE VALLEY, WA (January 13, 2025) — A man died in a pedestrian accident on North Tschirley Road on Sunday, January 5.
 
According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened around 5:30 p.m. on North Tschirley Road north of East Dalton Avenue.
 
The driver told deputies he traveled north on North Tschirley Road. Then he noticed a Kia parked on the east side of the road that partially blocked the travel lane.
 
Officers said the driver looked at the parked vehicle as he passed and then hit a man crossing the road. The man had reportedly made a delivery on the west side of Tschirley Road. He was returning to his parked Kia when the accident occurred.
 
The driver told deputies he tried to swerve to avoid the pedestrian. However, his vehicle still hit him. Deputies said the driver administered CPR until medics arrived. Yet, the man succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene.
 
Deputies said they do not believe impairment is a factor in the incident. They released the driver of the Subaru without charges.
 
Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
