LAS VEGAS, NV (February 26, 2025) — A 63-year-old Las Vegas man was injured in a mobility scooter accident near Hacienda Avenue on Friday, February 21.
 
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said the incident occurred near Hacienda Avenue and Decatur Boulevard shortly after 3:00 p.m.
 
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, the man riding a mobility scooter tried to cross Decatur Boulevard outside a designated crosswalk. Then he entered the path of a westbound 2023 Tesla Model 3.
 
The front of the vehicle subsequently struck the scooter. The impact ejected the man onto the roadway.
 
Emergency medical personnel brought the injured man to UMC-Trauma. Hospital staff determined his injuries to be critical.
 
The driver of the Tesla remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment, officials said.
 
The LVMPD Collision Investigation Section continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
