RENTON, WA (December 26, 2024) – Authorities confirmed that a 48-year-old man from Woodinville suffered critical injuries in a head-on crash on 405 Freeway on December 15.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, a 27-year-old man from Tacoma was driving north in the southbound lanes of I-405 when he crashed head-on into the victim’s vehicle.
 
A third car was able to swerve out of the way to avoid the collision but was still hit by the wrong-way vehicle as it rotated.
 
As a result, the victim and the wrong-way driver both sustained injuries. Emergency crews took them to Harborview Medical Center, where the victim was listed in critical condition in the ICU.
 
Authorities charged the wrong-way driver with vehicular assault. The man in the third car was not injured.
