Magellan Rutaneahwa Struck and Killed by Hit-and-Run Driver in Phoenix

 
PHOENIX, AZ (September 15, 2023) – Officers with Phoenix Police identified 49-year-old Magellan Rutaneahwa who died in a hit-and-run on 7th Street on September 10.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at McDowell Road around 7:30 PM. Based on a report, Rutaneahwa was crossing the intersection at the time of the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, a vehicle heading northbound on 7th Street struck him. The driver of the vehicle then left the scene, without giving aid to the victim.
 
As a result, Rutaneahwa suffered serious injuries in the incident. Despite medical attention, emergcny crews pronounced him dead at the scene.
 
Police ask anyone with information to call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS, or 480-TESTIGO for Spanish, and provide an anonymous tip.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
