Louis Golden Dead after Tucson Bicycle Crash on East Grand Road

 
TUCSON, AZ (June 25, 2024) — A 73-year-old identified as Louis Luke Golden died in a bicycle accident on Tuesday, June 4.
 
According to the Tucson Police Department, the fatal collision involving a bicyclist took place on the 800 block of East Grand Road near North Euclid Avenue at around 7:00 p.m.
 
During the investigation, officers learned that the driver of a blue 2004 Ford F-350 traveled westbound on East Grant Road in the curb lane. Then it started changing lanes into the right-turn-only lane. After that, he crashed into Golden, who rode his bicycle in the westbound bicycle lane.
 
Medics transported Golden to Banner University Medical Center with critical injuries.
 
The TPD said the Ford driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. The driver said he did not notice Golden because of the glare from the setting sun.
 
An Impaired Driver Enforcement Unit officer evaluated the driver and determined that intoxication was not a factor.
 
On June 7, the Pima County Office of the Medical Examiner notified the TPD that Golden had died in the hospital due to sustained injuries.
 
Officials continue to investigate the crash.
