Lorenzo Najera Killed, Brenda Guerrero, Juan Velo Injured in Accident on FM 1788 [Midland County, TX]

Lorenzo Najera Identified in Fatal Three-Vehicle Accident in Midland County

 
MIDLAND COUNTY, TX (May 22, 2024) – Officials identified 33-year-old Lorenzo Najera of Midland who died in an accident on FM 1788 on May 6.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash happened at CR-140 around 6:30 PM. Based on a report, Najera was driving a 2018 Ford F-150 southbound on FM-1788 before the crash.
 
When he passed a 2024 Peterbilt 567 pulling a trailer to the right, he struck its front with the Ford’s left side. He then lost control and traveled into oncoming traffic, where a 2020 Chevy 2500 traveling northbound on FM-1788 hit him. His vehicle veered off the roadway to the east and caught fire.
 
As a result, Najera suffered grave injuries and died at the scene.
 
Crews treated 32-year-old Brenda Guerrero, a passenger in the Ford, for minor injuries. They took the driver of the 2020 Chevy, 64-year-old Juan Diaz Veloz of Midland, to Midland Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. They also rushed a 10-year-old girl and a 3-year-old gilr to the same facility.
 
The driver of the Peterbilt, 34-year-old Jared Todd South of Alabama, did not sustain any injury.
 
This crash remains under investigation, and no further information is available.
