Linda Higgins Killed, Robert Maxwell and Sherrie Maxwell Injured in Car Crash on Highway 82

DEKALB, TX (May 18, 2023) — A 71-year-old DeKalb woman identified as Linda P. Higgins lost her life in a car accident on Friday, May 12.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, at around 10:00 a.m. Higgins drove east on Highway 82, about four miles east of DeKalb. Her 2014 Chevrolet Silverado then crossed into the westbound lane.

For undetermined reasons, she collided with a 2019 Dodge Ram towing a trailer in the westbound lane.

Higgins died at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash.

The driver of the Dodge Ram and his passenger had minor injuries. Authorities identified them as 70-year-old Robert Maxwell and 68-year-old Sherrie Maxwell, both of Texarkana. Paramedics rushed them both to Wadley Regional Hospital in Texarkana for treatment.

Reports said all persons involved in the incident wore their seatbelts.

Texas Department of Public Safety continues to investigate the crash. No other information is known at this time.
