Lesli Bolanos Dead after Phoenix Street Racing Crash

 
PHOENIX, AZ (August 25, 2023) — A woman identified as 19-year-old Lesli Vega Bolanos died after a street racing crash on Saturday, August 19.
 
According to Phoenix police, the collision took place near 35th Avenue and Southern Avenue just before 9:30 p.m.
 
Police said the drivers were street racing at speeds more than 80 miles per hour. Then one of the vehicles collided into a light pole. The impact of the collision caused power lines to fall onto the road. One of the vehicles overturned while the other hit a fence.
 
Police said paramedics pronounced Bolanos, who was inside the rollover vehicle, dead from her injuries at the scene.
 
Officers also removed two men from the rollover car. Paramedics then transported them both to the hospital; one of them with life-threatening injuries. They also rushed the driver and passenger of the other vehicle to the hospital with minor injuries.
 
Phoenix Police Sgt. Phil Krynsky said the initial information that impairment did not contribute to the incident. Additionally, he said speed is definitely a factor.
 
The family of Bolanos created a GoFundMe account to help with expenses to have Bolanos’ body transported to Mexico.
