Leonardo Belone Killed in Crash on Farm to Market Road 874 at Highway 302 [Kermit, TX]

Leonardo Belone Identified in Fatal Winkler County Car Crash

 
KERMIT, TX (February 7, 2023) – Police identified 53-year-old Leonardo Belone of New Mexico as the victim who died in a crash on Farm-to-Market 874 on February 4.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Highway 302. Based on a report, the victim was a passenger in a 2016 Jeep Cherokee traveling south on FM 874 prior to the crash.
 
At the same time, a 2016 Kenworth truck with trailer was traveling westbound on the highway. Subsequently, the Cherokee failed to yield the right of way and was hit by the truck.
 
As a result, Belone died after sustaining grave injuries.
 
Emergency crews transported the driver of the Cherokee to Winkler County Hospital in serious condition.
 
As of now, the case remains under investigation.
