Leland Peters Arrested after Onalaska DUI Car Crash on Highway 508

 
ONALASKA, WA (February 14, 2024) — Officers arrested 31-year-old Leland Peters, of Yelm, after a DUI car crash on Friday, February 2.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the incident happened just before 6:45 a.m. on Highway 508 near Gish Road
 
When a Washington State Patrol trooper arrived at the scene, he discovered a car registered to Peters facing westbound in the westbound ditch.
 
A woman at the scene reportedly told the trooper she and the driver had some drinks. Then their vehicle went into the ditch after turning on Highway 508 from Gish Road.
 
When officers asked who the driver was, the woman pointed to a man lying in the ditch on his back they later identified as Peters.
 
Paramedics brought Peters to Providence Centralia Hospital. There, he allegedly became argumentative and combative.
 
During the hospital visit, Peters allegedly kicked a trooper’s left thigh, kicked another trooper, and punched a nurse. In addition, he allegedly repeated death threats to both troopers and the nurse.
 
Jail records said officers booked Peters into the Lewis County Jail.
 
On Monday, February 5, they charged him with one count of DUI, three counts of third-degree assault, and two counts of felony harassment. They also set his bail at $10,000.
