Kristy Kerst Dead in Hit-and-Run in Monument McDonald’s Parking Lot

 
MONUMENT, CO (November 20, 2024) — 47-year-old Kristy Kerst sustained fatal injuries in a hit-and-run on Monday, November 4.
 
The Monument Police Department said the incident happened in a McDonald’s parking lot, east of 25 Freeway off Baptist Road.
 
When authorities arrived, they discovered Kerst with life-threatening. Emergency responders administered medical aid to Kerst. However, she succumbed to her injuries and died.
 
Authorities shared a suspect photo with the public showcasing a man driving and a female passenger. On Thursday, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office gave an update about the case.
 
According to the sheriff’s office, 41-year-old Joel Lang turned himself in at the Colorado Springs Police Department Stetson Hills Substation. Then the Sheriff’s Office took custody of Mr. Lang and recovered the suspect vehicle.
 
Authorities charged Lang with 2nd-degree murder, vehicular homicide, and failure to report a crash involving death. They held him in the El Paso County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
