Alex Bingham Dead and Jose Contreras Arrested after Odessa Hit-and-Run Accident

 
ODESSA, TX (November 20, 2024) — 25-year-old Alex Bingham, of Odessa, died in a hit-and-run on Sunday, October 27.
 
According to the Odessa Police Department, the accident occurred at around 1:35 a.m. at Everglade Avenue and Bellaire Drive.
 
During the investigation, officers determined a 2016 Dodge Challenger driven by 18-year-old Jose Contreras of Midland, traveled west on Everglade Avenue. Then it turned south onto Bellaire Drive.
 
After that, the Challenger left the roadway and hit a pedestrian later identified as Bingham. Contreras left the scene following the incident without checking on Bingham. He also abandoned his vehicle.
 
Emergency responders brought Bingham to Medical Center Hospital, where he later died on Wednesday, October 30.
 
Officers arrested Contreras. He faces charges of Collision Involving Death and Intoxication Assault. Additionally, they also charged 24-year-old Nadia Trevino with Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor.
 
Authorities continue to investigate the accident.
