Kresten Thomsen Dies after Arvada DUI Accident on 64th Avenue

 
ARVADA, CO (February 14, 2024) — 44-year-old Colorado musician Kresten Wolff Thomsen was fatally struck by a suspected drunken driver on Monday, February 6.
 
Officers responded to a multi-car accident near West 64th Avenue and Lamar Street at 3:39 p.m.
 
Reports said a silver GMC pickup truck moving east on 64th Avenue ran a red light at Lamar Street. Then it struck a maroon Toyota sedan and a gray Ford Bronco.
 
The impact of the collision caused the Toyota to go into a front yard and home in the northwest corner of the intersection. Thomsen, who was the driver of the Toyota, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
 
Paramedics rushed two children in the sedan to the hospital. Both children are in intensive care. They subsequently transported the driver of the Bronco to the hospital with minor injuries.
 
Arvada police said alcohol and speed played a role in the crash. Officers brought the driver of the GMC, 23-year-old Juan Ortega Torres Jr., to the hospital. After that, they took him into police custody.
 
A GoFundMe set up for his wife and children said Thomsen was on the way home from school with his two children when the crash happened.
