Kathy Chavez Identified in Double Fatality Car Crash in Granada Hills

 
GRANADA HILLS, CA (February 13, 2023) – The Los Angeles Police Department identified 45-year-old Kathy Chavez as one of the two people who died in a high-speed crash on North Balboa Boulevard on February 8.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened in the 6400 block of North Balboa Boulevard in the Sepulveda Basin around 3:45 AM.
 
Based on a report, Chavez was on her way to work at the Castaic post office at the time of the crash. While on the road, a speeding Chevrolet Corvette ran through a red light and slammed into her vehicle, causing it to overturn.
 
As a result, emergency crews pronounced Chavez dead at the scene.
 
Crews also transported the 31-year-old Corvette driver but the victim died at the hospital. Officials did not yet release the victim’s identity.
 
The Corvette’s passenger suffered critical injuries.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
