Pedestrian Kathi Leineke Killed in Oak View Accident

 
OAK VIEW, CA (February 21, 2023) – 69-year-old Kathi Leineke died after an accident on State Route 33 on February 3.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 7:15 p.m. near West Short Street.

Based on reports, the Leineke was about to cross the highway when for unknown reasons she went towards the path of a 2018 Chevrolet pickup. As a result, the vehicle crashed into her.

The involved driver stopped to notify the authorities about the accident. Police identified her as a 52-year-old woman from Ojai.

At this point, the southbound lanes of State Route 33 were closed for three hours as the investigation was conducted. The motorists were diverted to another route to avoid delays.

There is no information available as of now. However, authorities confirmed that the driver was not under the influence when the accident happened.

The name of the pedestrian will not be released until the notification of next of kin.
