Juwan Dobbins Jr. Dead and Thalia Sigala Injured after Odessa Pursuit Accident
ODESSA, TX (March 15, 2024) — A 32-year-old Arizonan identified as Juwan Hedreece Dobbins Jr. died in a pursuit crash on Friday, March 8.
Odessa Police Department and the University of Texas Permian Basin noticed the driver of a Mercury Milan. They said he was wanted in Arizona. In addition, he is a suspected for having a large quantity of fentanyl pills.
Officers tried to stop the vehicle. However, Dobbins Jr. who drove the vehicle, refused to stop. DPS responded before they lost sight of the vehicle. The Ector County Sheriff’s Office continued the pursuit.
The chase ended when Dobbins drove north in the southbound lanes of East Loop 338 near Yukon Road.
Dobbins steered the cat into the dirt median to prevent crashing with two other vehicles. Then he lost control. He drove in the median between the north and southbound lanes of the loop on the overpass.
DPS said Dobbins’ car went airborne off the overpass. After that, it crashed onto Yukon Road and overturned several times.
The impact of the crash ejected Dobbins and his passenger, a 31-year-old Thalia Sigala, of Hobbs, N.M. from the vehicle. They pronounced him dead at the scene.
Paramedics transported Sigala to Medical Center Hospital with serious injuries.
