Justin Stensland Killed in Accident on Highway 285 [Nathrop, CO]

Justin Stensland Identified in Fatal Car Accident in Nathrop

 
NATHROP, CO (September 10, 2024) – Officials identified 49-year-old Justin Stensland of Salida who died in an accident on Highway 285 on September 2.
 
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the victim was a passenger in a Toyota 4Runner trying to pass other vehicles on a curve in a no-passing zone.
 
At a point, the SUV hit a whitewater rafting company carrying whitewater rafters van carrying whitewater rafters head-on.
 
As a result, Stensland suffered grave injuries and died at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
 
The driver of the Toyota 4Runner, a 33-year-old man from Golden, suffered life-threatening injuries. The 70-year-old driver of the van and five of its passengers also suffered severe injuries.
 
The crash shut down 285 on Labor Day for nearly five hours.
 
Charges for the driver of the 4Runner are pending.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
