Anita Huynh and Julie Nelson Identified in Injury Crash on 5 Freeway in Chehalis

 
CHEHALIS, WA (April 9, 2024) – Officials identified 63-year-old Julie C. Nelson of Centralia and 43-year-old Anita E. Huynh of Olympia who suffered injuries in a crash on 5 Freeway on March 31.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened near milepost 80 at about 2:20 AM. Based on a report, Nelson was driving a 2014 Honda Civic south on the highway when she ran out of gas.
 
At the same time, Huynh was driving a 2009 Toyota Prius on the same highway. When Nelson turned on her emergency flashers and attempted to coast to the right shoulder, Huynh struck her car. Officers said Huynh had fallen asleep at the wheel.
 
As a result, both Nelson and Huynh sustained unspecified injuries in the crash. Crews transported them to Providence Centralia Hospital for treatment.
 
Both women were wearing seat belts and their cars were totaled. Drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the crash.
