ODESSA, TX (January 23, 2024) — A rollover crash claimed the life of 27-year-old Jose Rivera Veliz on Sunday, January 21.
 
According to the Odessa Police Department, the solo-car crash happened just before 3:00 p.m. on Highway 191 and East Loop 338. A vehicle left the roadway, causing it to overturn.
 
Veliz, who was behind the wheel of the vehicle, died at the scene.
 
Paramedics brought a passenger to Medical Center Hospital with minor injuries. Officers later released his identity as 79-year-old Eddie Humphries.
 
Authorities said in a Facebook post that investigators are still working to determine the cause of the crash.
