Jose Quintanilla Arrested after DUI Pursuit Accident in Galveston

 
GALVESTON, TX (January 22, 2024) — Authorities arrested 47-year-old Jose Quintanilla after a DUI pursuit crash on Thursday, January 18.
 
According to the Galveston Police Department, the incident began at around 6:45 p.m. with a large black truck moving recklessly near 61st Street and Broadway Street.
 
Officers tried to pull over the pickup. However, Quintanilla, the man behind the vehicle, refused to stop.
 
Quintanilla then reportedly moved north and went to Tiki Island. After that, he traveled back around to Galveston for another eight miles.
 
Police said the chase came to a stop in the 2700 block of Broadway. It happened when Quintanilla’s vehicle struck two other vehicles. After that, it also hit a utility pole and several trees.
 
Family members said a woman and her 7-year-old daughter were in one of the cars struck by Quintanilla’s vehicle. They suffered minor injuries.
 
Paramedics also transported Quintanilla with non-life-threatening injuries to the hospital. Authorities charged him with evading arrest or detention, driving while intoxicated, and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
