Driver Ejected and Killed, Jose Olmedo Arrested in Fort Worth Crash
FORT WORTH, TX (September 12, 2024) – The Fort Worth Police Department arrested 25-year-old Jose Maximino Ramirez Olmedo following a fatal hit-and-run in the 2100 block of Jacksboro Highway on September 7.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened around 9:22 PM. Based on a report, Olmedo was traveling southbound on Jacksboro Highway before the crash.
At the same time, a vehicle was attempting to make a left-hand turn from a parking lot. Subsequently, Olmedo ran a red light at a high rate of speed and struck the other vehicle, ejecting its driver.
As a result, the other driver suffered grave injuries and died in the incident. Officials did not release the victim’s name, pending notification of next of kin.
Olmedo ran from the scene before officers arrived. Authorities later arrested and charged him with accident involving death.
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
