PHOENIX, AZ (January 16, 2024) – The Phoenix Police Department identified 41-year-old Jose Gomez who died in a pedestrian accident on 55th Avenue on January 4.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Thomas Road shortly before 5:00 AM. Based on the report, Gomez was crossing mid-block was he was hit by a car going east on Thomas Road.
 
As a result, Gomez suffered grave injuries and died at the scene.
 
The driver involved stayed and cooperated with investigators. Police did not suspect impairment to be a factor in the collision.
