Jorge Rubio Died, Zachary Ray Whitehead Injured in Crash on State Highway 322 [Rusk County, TX]

Jorge Rubio Identified in Rusk County Car Crash

 
RUSK COUNTY, TX (July 5, 2023) – 36-year-old Jorge Rubio died while 25-year-old Zachary Ray Whitehead was injured after a car crash on State Highway 322 on Thursday, June 29.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash happened five miles north of Lakeport. It involved a 2015 Kia Forte driven by Rubio and a 2017 Kia Rio driven by Whitehead.

Initial investigation revealed that while heading northbound on State Highway 322, Rubio crossed onto the oncoming lane and crashed with Whitehead’s vehicle that was driving southbound.

Rubio died at the scene, police said.

Medics took Whitehead to CHRISTUS Mother Frances with unknown injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
